What do you guys think is the ideal number of people on a team? Which witnesses/attorneys in this case should be single sided? Double sided? Just wondering

This is 100% dependent on your team. Ideal number is whatever gives you the best team. Single sided vs. double sided depends on what roles need to be filled and who can fill them best.

Agree with adamsel, it just depends on the number of members, skill/commitment of members, experience, etc... I feel like it also varies between student run vs coached teams as well, since many teams have coaches that pick roles or at the very least carry a lot of influence. As for picking specific roles, people who do experts unfortunately tend to get stuck with expert stuff since the rules of evidence vary with experts. What that means is once you start doing experts, you get stuck with it since that role requires more knowledge about rules of evidence than other attorney roles do. Likewise, Ryder is the closest to a dramatic witness you'll get for defense, so someone who plays Ryder has to be a good dramatic witness, as well as someone who is familiar with every aspect of the case since they're the defendant. That's why I often see the person playing Ryder also play someone like Det. Chesney on the other side, since they're both bigger, dramatic roles with crosses that are usually taken by lead attorneys for either side.
