The Mock Review
Mon Feb 17, 2020 1:43 pm
Hey all! Episode 23 of The Mock Review was released this morning. Drew and I went through all of the week 1 and 2 regional results, except for the two west coast ones in week 2. We recorded last Sunday night (2/9) and the west coast results hadn't come out yet. We're gonna do more regionals results episodes and try to keep this up for ORCS and NCT like last year, and I'm hoping to have a quicker turnaround time on edits for the rest. Hope you enjoy it!

Are you guys planning to cover those regionals from the west coast you missed anyways? Look forward to it.

Absolutely, we'll include them on the next episode with weeks 3 and 4.

Hi all, bumping this thread since we just released our ORCS week one analysis episode. Drew and I obviously have some time on our hands like many of you, so we're going to try and do a few more episodes soon to fill at least a little bit of the void. Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe out there.

In case you haven't gotten feedback, we really appreciate you and Drew continuing to put out content. We miss mock trial but this is the closest thing we get.

Thank you, and glad you're enjoying it. We recorded another episode yesterday with a guest I think people will enjoy (should be out this weekend) and we've got at least two more planned over the next few weeks. It's no substitute but we're glad to at least give people something to distract them under our current circumstances.

And we've got another new episode out! We chatted with Brian Pilchik, Amanda Mundell, and Emily Miller, the co-authors of Winning Objections: A Mock Trial Guidebook. They're all AMTA alums and alums/former competitors at Harvard Law School. Drew and I also review the book in the second half of the episode. It's a little different from our usual episodes, but we both read the book and genuinely think it's a good resource for coaches and students, so I hope you'll give this one a listen.

Hi all! We've got a new episode out today (I just released it so it should be in your feeds now/soon) with Johnathan Woodward. We had a really great conversation on a ton of different topics, including his thoughts on the new ORCS pairing system, some examples of funny/crazy calls he's gotten from AMTA reps during competition season, what it's like to announce the NCT winner, how AMTA's tabulation and pairing systems have changed over the years, and a lot more. It's definitely a wonky episode, but I figure the folks who post on here a lot will enjoy it. Huge thanks to Johnathan for taking some time to chat with us.

Hope everyone out there is safe and well! Drew and I released a new episode today with a ton of content. We chatted with Sonali (again) along with Seva and Eric (her second chair and coach) about winning TBC and all of the fun behind the scenes stuff we didn't get to see. We also kicked around a bunch of topics including the official cancellation of the 2020 season, my experience coaching at TBC and our thoughts on virtual mock trial, the One Last Time Tournament, the Student Advisory Board, the 2020 case topic, and a few interesting motions up for debate at this weekend's Board of Directors meeting. Hope you enjoy it! https://open.spotify.com/episode/5bQ2fC5pvgZSE9ibZnWgh6
