Too Much Time on Your Hands? Join the Inebriated Trial Case Committee

Dear AMTA Community:

During this time of crisis, we look toward the horizon of a new mock trial season, when the sunshine of normalcy will again rise above our campuses.

But until that fateful day, the Mock Trial Writers Guild of America stands committed to preserving peace, justice—and drunkenness. As our 2020 AMTA season comes to a pause (and maybe a bitter end), the MTWGA writes these words of encouragement to all who seek to serve their community through the creation of the 2020 Drunk Trial Case Problem.

If you seek to serve, join our team.

We invite all those interested in joining the 2020 Inebriated Trial Case Committee to draft an affidavit for a case of your imagination. Please email the affidavit, in pdf format, to mocktrialwritersguild@gmail.com. Please don’t forget to include a brief synopsis of your case. Feel free to apply under a pseudonym—the more inappropriate, the better.

Applications are due by the end of day (Midlands Time) on Friday, March 27, 2020. From the submissions, our 2019 Inebriated Trial Case Committee will select the writers who best demonstrate the impossible-to-quantify elements of humor, creativity, and wit in their submission materials. Decisions will be announced, via email, by the end of day on Friday, April 3, 2020.
